WHAT IS ‘SADHANA’?

A CONCEPT OF PERSONAL PROGRESS

The Sanskrit word Sadhana means – spiritual effort.
Effort for what?
It is an earnest striving of the soul!
Striving for what?
Striving to develop to grow – like a germinating seed—towards light! God-hood.

Many people do not have a clear concept of Sadhana! Does Sadhana mean a set of physical exercise (Yogasanas) and breathing exercises (Pranayama)? Let us see what is ‘Sadhana’ in the words of Dr. Vedavyas, the Master with difference.

The ‘Nature’ of an average man is an admixture of ego, desire for material pleasures, and selfishness to enjoy all alone. Observation of one’s own nature is ‘Sadhana’.

Generally no one likes to analyse his nature critically or to identify his follies or qualities of nature, which obstruct the inflow of divine grace. The aspirant does not like to recognise his follies or defects for a long time. This dislike is also due to in --- built selfishness. The person, who abandons all attempts to mask his defective qualities by justification, is only really qualified to be an aspirant. One has to first find out his defects--rectification comes later.

What is this Nature?

Sharing what you have with those who do not have is human nature.
To give to others even if you do not have is divine nature.
To deprive others is animal nature.
To destroy other’s even if you do not need it is Asuric nature.
To torture others because your needs are not satisfied is demonic nature.
